Got Questions About FunDay Boat Day? We've Got Answers!
Potential popular destinations include Rich Inlet, Mason’s Inlet, Masonboro Island, and the 'secret' rope and tire swing. If you’re not sure where you’d like to visit, Capt. Bill will happily customize the perfect itinerary based on the tide, wind, and weather to give you the best possible experience.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE WANT MORE TIME?This happens often, if you are having too much fun and don't want your trip to end, I can extend the trip based on my availability. Cost is $100 per hour, and payment can be made via cash, credit card, or Venmo.
WHERE DO WE GET PICKED UP?We have two main pick-up locations: the public boat ramp at Wrightsville Beach (109 Causeway Dr., Wrightsville Beach) or the Wynn Plaza Public Dock (2 Waynick Blvd., Wrightsville Beach) at the corner of Waynick and Causeway Drive / Banks Channel Causeway Bridge. If you are staying at a hotel or a home with a dock, I can pick you up there also. We will discuss this during the phone call the day before your trip.
WHERE DO WE PARK?Public paid parking is located near both pick-up locations. Look for the signs, follow the instructions. Depending on the day, parking can be challenging. Arrive early, drop off your stuff, and then go park. This can be one of the most stressful parts of the day, with a little pre-planning and allowing some extra time, it can be overcome.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE BOOK OUR TRIP?Text: After booking your trip, Capt. Bill will shoot you a friendly text to open the line of communication. He’ll chat with you about any questions, special requests, or ideas you have for your adventure!
Call: The day before your big adventure, Capt. Bill will give you a call! He’ll chat with you about the weather, go over pickup details, and handle any last-minute questions so everything is smooth and exciting for your trip.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?Sunscreen
Sunscreen is a total must on the water! The boat does not have shade, so we highly recommend bringing hats, sunglasses, and UV-protective clothing for extra defense against that bright Carolina sun. Pro tip: Please apply your sunscreen 30 minutes before you arrive — the overspray can make the deck super slippery!
Personal Items
Pack your beach towels, beach chairs, and floats (unless you’re renting gear from us). Don’t forget a bag for collecting seashells — a simple grocery bag works great! Throw in some small toys like a football or a shovel for extra laughs and fun on the sand. Just remember to pack smart and efficiently — space on the boat is limited, so we want to keep things comfy for everyone!
Water Shoes
Water shoes (or an old pair of sneakers) are your best friends for this adventure! They’re perfect for walking across hot sand on the islands, or just exploring. Trust us — the sand can get toasty!
Food & Drinks
Stay refreshed and hydrated — water is non-negotiable on a sunny day! The boat is equipped with a 70 qt Igloo cooler; feel free to bring a small cooler along, soft-sided ones are best. There is also an insulated storage area under the seat in front of the center console. Remember, space is limited. We can also stop at a Marina if you need more drinks or ice.
Yes, dogs are welcome! Bring extra water and a bowl.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?Safety is always our #1 priority (it’s honestly one of the trickiest parts of the job!). Don’t let a cloudy day discourage you — overcast days are actually pretty great! They keep the temperature nice and cool, and the beaches are way less crowded.
The Day Before:
If the forecast isn’t looking promising, Capt. Bill will give you a call to talk through your options. We can easily reschedule for a better day or cancel with a full refund if needed.
The Morning of the Trip:
Capt. Bill will call you before pickup time if it’s overcast or there’s a chance of rain. As long as there’s no severe weather or lightning, we can still go and have a fantastic time! If we do need to cancel due to weather, you’ll get a full refund.
On the Boat:
You can relax knowing Capt. Bill is constantly monitoring the weather, and your family’s safety comes first. If we run into some unexpected bad weather, there are several restaurants we can pull into and wait for the storm to pass. If the weather just isn’t cooperating for the rest of the day, we’ll head back early, and your trip will be prorated accordingly.
Cancellation Policy
- 72+ hours before your trip: Full refund
- Less than 48 hours before: 50% refund
- Less than 24 hours before or No-Show: No refund
Please plan for beach traffic and parking — we hate to see anyone miss out because of a delay!
,
-No Show also equals no refund. Please plan accordingly for beach traffic and parking.
HOW SAFE IS IT?Capt. Bill has over 40 years of boating experience, accident-free. Safety is a priority, including first aid supplies, and CPR/first aid certification for both infants and adults. The boat also carries the most up to date electronics including GPS. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, we will adjust our course immediately.
WHERE ARE WE GOING?That's up to you! We'll mainly explore the Intracoastal Waterway between Figure 8 Island and Masonboro Island, with Mason's Inlet being the highlight. Rest assured, we avoid the open ocean for safety.
IS THERE AN AGE RESTRICTION?No age restrictions! As long as everyone can handle a little wave action and can safely get on and off the boat. Guests need to be sure-footed and able to step up and down 2-3 feet.
WHAT ABOUT LIFE JACKETS?By law, children under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket while the boat is underway. We provide high-quality life jackets for children and emergency life jackets for everyone on board. Capt. Bill will confirm the age and size of the children in your group during your pre-trip call. IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE BRINGING AN INFANT ON BOARD, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE THE PROPER LIFE VEST.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN WE BRING?In accordance with the United States Coast Guard Rules, we are allowed a total of 6 passengers. Infants and children count the same as an adult. This is a strict policy with zero exceptions. While 6 adults are possible, it will be tight on space, while we are in motion
WHAT IF I GET SEA SICK?No worries! Our stable boat makes for a smooth ride. Rough seas are a rarity as we are protected by Barrier Islands to our east and the mainland to our west. If you do start to feel seasick, we can head to the beach for relief. Consider taking motion sickness medication the night before if you're prone to seasickness.
IS THERE A BATHROOM?Are you familiar with the term “nature potty”?
There’s no bathroom on the boat, so hopping in the water or making a quick dash behind a dune is totally acceptable (and usually provides a good laugh for the whole group). If you need a little more privacy, no worries — Capt. Bill is happy to make a quick pit stop at the marina for a snack and a proper potty break. Just give him a heads-up, and he’ll get you there quickly and discreetly!
Of course, you can bring alcohol, that's part of the reason you've hired a captain for the day! Everyone consuming alcohol must be 21+ years of age and provide a valid ID. At any time the captain has the right to end the excursion if a customer becomes unruly or becomes a danger to themselves or anyone else on board. Remember: slow and steady wins the race! NO GLASS. NO LIQUOR BOTTLES.

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH TIPPING?Tipping is not expected but always appreciated! If you feel the service was exceptional, feel free to tip in cash or via Venmo. We also love a good Google review :)
